Wills, Probate and Powers of Attorney

Making a will can avoid disputes and uncertainty by ensuring that your estate is distributed in accordance with your wishes rather the dictates of government or next of kin.  Instructng an expert to prepare it ensures that the wording is clear and unambiguous, and that it complies with all the complex legal requirements.  We can usually work to a fixed fee for this.

Alongside a will, we will usually talk about a Lasting Power of Attorney to enable a close relative or friend, or even a professional advisor, to look after your financial affairs or your welfare if you are unable to do so for any reason.  Where possible, we will provide you with a fixed price for the application for and registration of a Lasting Power of Attorney.

The death of a family member or friend is an emotionally difficult time.  Add to that a responsibility as an executor or administrator of their estate and many people feel overwhelmed.  We can help with that and handle as much or as little of the administrative burden as you want.  Whether you just want us to deal with the grant of probate, or if you want us to administer the estate in full, we will always give you a clear indication of the likely costs before commencing work.  An overview of our charges is available here.

We provide advice and prepare the appropriate documentation in relation to:-

  • Will or Codicil
  • Obtaining Grants of Probate
  • Dealing with the administration of estates
  • Powers of Attorney including Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Intestacy
  • Trusts and Settlements
  • Change of Name Deeds / Declarations
  • Applications to the Court of Protection for Deputyship Orders
  • Inheritance Tax Planning
